Since I moved to Pittsburgh five (!) years ago, no neighborhood has changed more than Lawrenceville. I remember my first venture to the neighborhood: I was going to a meeting at a now-defunct coffee joint called Emma's at the corner of Butler and 44th. PITTSBURGH has undergone a striking renaissance from a down-and-out smokestack to a gleaming cultural oasis. But old stereotypes die hard, and Pittsburgh probably doesn’t make many people’s short list for a cosmopolitan getaway.
